Laura qualifies for National Championships

Laura is really pleased after qualifying for the National Dressage Championships (19th to 21st September) at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. It is thought that 13 year old Laura may be the youngest competitor in the event’s long history.

Competing on her 13 year old black gelding Lyndon Hall (whose stable name is Tommy), Laura recently came third at the Northern Regional Championships at Aike Grange Stud Nr Beverley and gained a wild card to earn a coveted place in the National Championships.

Laura, who will compete in the Stretch and Flex Elementary Open Championship against adults at the National Championships, is trained by Verity Franks and former GB Team Pony trainer Ian Woodhead, who have said; “Laura is one of the most talented youngsters that I have come across in all my years of working with the GB team.”

Longer term, Laura’s sights are set on the possibility of the Olympics.

"To have an opportunity to compete for team GB in the Olympic dressage competition would be amazing.” Laura’s mum, Tracey, is justifiably proud of her talented daughter; “This is a fantastic achievement for a rider of any age and it’s really rewarding that her commitment to her sport has reaped rewards.”
